What is meditation?

Meditation is an expression of prayer that has been used through the ages to engage thought, imagination, emotion, and desire in order to deepen our faith and strengthen our will in our quest to conform our lives to Christ. St. Ignatius of Loyola used meditation very powerfully in his "Spiritual Exercises." Books, and in particular Sacred Scriptures, are used to aid in meditation. We use passages from scripture in our meditations on this website.

As you pray with these meditations you are encouraged to enter into the scripture passage with your thought and your imagination, using your senses and being attentive to your feelings. All of this is done with the desire to "seek His face," the face of the One we love.
